Sean Doherty – Executive Director
Sean Doherty joined Mile High Community Loan Fund in 2015. He serves the 14-member Board of Directors and leads the organization’s effort to attract new investors., implement MHCLF’s strategic growth plan, promote MHCLF’s products to affordable housing developers and other nonprofit community based organizations and ensure the financial security and integrity of the Fund.
Prior to joining the organization, Mr. Doherty worked as Chief Financial Officer/Director of Portfolio Management of Baltimore Community Lending, a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) in Baltimore, Maryland. He actively negotiated the initiation of several loan programs including projects located in distressed neighborhoods and providing capital/construction management services for a multi-neighborhood community development project spread over a large geography surrounding the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus. He also substantially expanded the organization’s portfolio of dedicated stakeholders to include government, foundations and a variety of regional and national banks.
Mr. Doherty holds a Master’s of Science degree in Finance from Loyola College in Baltimore and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Baltimore. He is a CPA and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Joe Rowan – Director of Programs and Development
Joe Rowan serves as Director of Programs and Development for MHCLF. Originally joining Funding Partners (a wholly owned subsidiary of MHCLF since May 2016) as a Senior Loan Officer in 2001, he was tapped as its Chief Officer in 2004. Under Joe’s leadership, Funding Partners has grown its geographic reach to include the entire state of Colorado, expanding technical assistance services and specialized financial products to address distinct needs within the market. Joe has successfully transformed Funding Partners into a highly sophisticated financial institution without losing its appeal as a revolving loan fund familiar with local conditions as a trusted partner in every corner of Colorado.
Joe’s intensive background in non-profit real estate finance has proven to be an invaluable asset to MHCLF since the day of acquisition.
Joe Rowan holds a B.S. in Business Administration with emphasis in Finance and Real Estate from Colorado State University. He has received several certifications in industry-specific disciplines that include: financial management, capital structuring, tax credit and bond financing, loss mitigation and portfolio analysis. Joe is frequently called upon to provide market perspective and technical presentations to both public events and private consultations.
